The Hitchin Relay Race
Sunday 3rd June 2018
10am start time
Hello and welcome to the Hitchin Relay Race.
This will be the second time that this fun event will have taken place. It was first held in 2015 and after a 2-year absence, it is back! This year we are raising money to help Lister Hospital and for the Cardiac and emergency departments.
All profits will go to this cause as this is a non-profit event.
This year’s race will be held at Hitchin Rugby Club, on the King George Playing Fields. There is plenty of parking for all. The rugby club is off Old Hale Way in Hitchin.
The date for the event is Sunday 3rd June.
The race will start at 10am and will conclude when the last team has finished.
Teams can be made up of 2-4 people. You can create either a men’s team, a women’s team or a mixed team (where at least one member has to be from the opposite sex). They can be any age as the event is for fun and not to be taken too seriously. This is a charity event, and whilst there will be prizes for the winning teams, it is more about the fun and involvement.
The course itself will be a fun grand prix style circuit that will be 800m long/half mile, in length. It will feature some nice long straights and then a circuit to get them going left and right with hairpins and chicanes!
Each team must complete 12 laps of the course to show that they have completed all of the laps needed.
Each lap in order of completion, must be run by a different team member, in other words, if runner A does the first lap, they cannot then do lap 2. Each team member must run at least 1 lap each, with each lap being completed by a different person from the lap just completed.
The relay baton must be exchanged between the hands of your fellow teammate within the transition zone. This will be set up and clearly signed so people can see where it is and when to exchange the baton.
The winners for each teams will be those first over the line.
