Hello everyone. It is great to be back after a challenging couple of years!
So, without the waffle that I usually subject you all to, here are the details you need
Race starts promptly at 9am
PRE-RACE DAY: NUMBER & CHIP PICK UP
You can pick up your race number on two of the following days:
- Saturday 30th April – 8am to 10am – From The Cycle Agents, 34 Queen Street, Hitchin, Herts, SG4
- Sunday 1st May – Race Day – from the town square
Please note there is NO on-site parking, but there is a car park across the road (St. Mary’s car
park). It is a paid and display car park, but there are other places to park for free nearby if you know
the area well. When you enter the premises, please walk up the main driveway of the facility, then
behind the main showroom you will see open doors, go in them and up the stairs to your right-hand
side. It will be easier to do than this sounds!
You can collect your race number/chip timing bib and your event t-shirt (if you signed up to that option
when you entered). Please note we will have no spare tops to sell. They are ordered exactly to who has
What3Words App location for TCA: alarm.yards.spray
NB: You CAN pick up race packs for family and friends, but you must tell us in advance and get permission
to do so. An email confirmation/text etc from them to show they have given consent will be needed.
RACE DAY PARKING
If you are travelling to Hitchin by car, please use the following CAR PARKS. They are free on Sundays.
• St. Mary’s Square
• Portmill Lane
More information about these car parks can be founds HERE.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
Come out of the station, turn left on to Walsworth Road (B656). A Tesco Express will be and head towards
town. From here you are between 10-15 minutes away from the town centre).
PICKING UP YOUR RACE NUMBER & CHIP ON RACE DAY
On the day itself, you will find the registration desk in the Market Square itself, right in the thick of the
action! When you arrive in the market square you will find the desks outside Pitcher & Piano. A sign will be
up too, to announce its location.
The ONLY earphones allowed are bone conducting earphones, as these allow you to hear people, traffic
and any other noises that would alert you to anything unexpected. Normal bud/over the earphones ARE
NOT ALLOWED and if you are caught wearing them then you risk the chances of having a DQ next to your
name (Oh the shame!). Safety first!
The route starts with 1 lap of the town roads for the first kilometer, then you will head out to the
underpass and a turnaround section on Willow Lane before continuing into the local villages of Gosmore
You will return the way you came, doing the turnaround point again and the underpass, before doing
almost the same 1km you did at the start.
Do not worry, the entire course will have signs and arrows for you so you cannot go wrong…!
NB: We always try to put the KM markers as close to the actual official spots of where they go, but street
furniture changes all the time, so if your watch beeps or a mark on the road is exactly next to the sign, then
you know why
Follow the course signs for the course and listen to marshals.
NB: Remember, although many roads are closed, cars will still have access to the car parks, residential
access on Bridge Street and traffic will still flow the other direction. They are closed but still be vigilant!
The course is accurately measured and is certificated for 10 years from 2019.
Water will be available approximately at halfway. This year The Bird in Hand Pub in Gosmore are very
kindly doing this year’s water station. Please take a bottle, either keep it with you or put it in a bin when
done. Some black bins are provided. DO NOT LITTER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Please thank every marshal you see when possible. Every one of them has given up their free time and
we cannot hold these events without them.
AFTER THE RACE
• You will cross the finish line.
• Please go to the table with bottles and your finishers medal on and collect one.
• Once the race has concluded we shall hold the awards ceremony for the overall male and female
podium placed persons and age group winners too

around after the event!
STAY SAFE, RESPECT THE PUBLIC, FOLLOW THE RULES, ENJOY THE EVENT!
