HITCHIN TRIATHLON
OVERVIEW
The Hitchin triathlon is set in the small market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. With two distances and a children’s event available to enter
Sprint distance: 400m outdoor pool, 20km bike and 5km run
Nitro distance: 200m outdoor pool, 12km bike and 2.5km run
Kids triathlon
It’s a great event for beginners or more seasoned triathletes. The swim is in the olympic sized outdoor pool, before a cycle takes you out in to the local countryside. The final run is around the local park and town centre

ENTER THE RACE
This years race is on the 7th July 2024. This is a timed event and you'll get an entry number, timing chip and a medal at the end of the run.
PRE-RACE
We will contact you via email to confirm details, typically you can pick up your race number the day before the race or on the day.
RACE DAY
The registration closes 6:25am. Nitro adults set off first. 6:30am. Then Sprint adults straight after at 6:45am approx. Children in the Atom event set off straight after the adults. 7:30am approx

REGISTRATION
You can pick up your race number on the day:
Saturday 9am-12noon you can get your race packs from The Cycle Agents for adults and children.
Sunday: Registration opens 5:30am poolside (outdoor pool)
This is for both adults and children.
Body marking a must for all adults in case your race bibs get damaged for any reason and you want to get your bike back from transition
Registration closes 6:20am as does transition.
Strictly no members of the public allowed inside transition!
Race briefing 6:25am
Nitro adults set off first. 6:30am
Then Sprint adults straight after. 6:45am approx.
Children in the Atom event set off straight after the adults. 7:30am approx.
Parking is available at the Hitchin Swimming Pool. It is a paid and display car park, Sunday is typically free to park and there are other places to park for free nearby if you know
the area well.
RULES
The minimum age of race entry is 11 years old on race day itself.
YOU MUST LISTEN TO MARSHALS AT ALL TIMES AS THIS RACE IS NOT TRAFFIC FREE. THERE ARE SOME ROAD CROSSINGS BUT MARSHALS WILL BE AT ALL OF THESE POINTS TO ENSURE THAT THEY KEEP YOU AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT, LET TRAFFIC GO FIRST BEFORE CONTINUING THE RACE.
There will be scorers who mark down the number of each runner as they complete both laps and a video will be in operation for any discrepancies too.
No music players are permitted at all due to the nature of the race involving public highways and road crossings.
In the event of wet conditions, you must run around the corners carefully and listen to the marshals as the surface in places could be slippery and it is not worth risking an injury for the sake of a fast time or placing. Stay safe!
In the event of extreme weather, the race can be postponed to another day.
Entries cannot be transferred, and are non-refundable.
PRIZES
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in both male and female categories.
All runners will get a medal for running and also some nibbles at the end of the race too!
